The Salvation Army of Haverhill held their Salute to Heroes during their 2nd Annual Kettle Kickoff Breakfast. The breakfast honored local heroes within the Fire Department, Police Department and the EMS Field for 2009. The packed event was held at DiBurro's in Haverhill. Trinity had three nominees within the EMS field: Paramedic and Haverhill Operations Manager John Hebert, Paramedic and Haverhill Assistant Operations Manager Joe Swales, Paramedic and Nurse Manager at Brigham and Woman's ICU Dave Dolan.

Each nominee was recognized for their outstanding work and effort during difficult scenarios that had occurred during 2009. After difficult deliberation, the committee chose Dave Dolan as 2009 EMS/Hero of the Year.

The incident:

On August 15, 2009 Paramedic David Dolan was working his scheduled shift on P80 when he and his partner were dispatched to a Motorcycle verses minivan on Rte 125 in Plaistow NH. Dave and his partner arrived to find 2 critically injured patients lying on the ground. He assessed the scene quickly and handled the highly stressful and chaotic scene calmly and professionally. He took control of the scene and rapidly treated the patients using all the skills he has learned during his many years in EMS and provided superb lifesaving care to both patients who had sustained grave injuries. From a fellow Paramedic, "Dave displayed the qualities we in EMS all hope to acquire."
